Job summary

Tiny Tunes Daycare in Bronx, NY is seeking a reliable After School Supervisor to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children after school. You will supervise indoor and outdoor activities, assist with homework, and communicate with parents and staff to support student well‑being.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with school-age children.

  • CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic After School Supervisor to join our team at Tiny Tunes Daycare in Bronx, NY. As an After School Supervisor, you will play a key role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children after school hours. 25 to 30 hours weekly

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and engage with children in indoor and outdoor activities
  • Assist with homework and provide educational support
  • Ensure the safety and well‑being of all children in your care
  • Communicate effectively with parents and staff
  • Implement and enforce daycare policies and procedures
  • Supervising Students – Ensure the safety and well‑being of students during after‑school hours. This involves monitoring their activities, behavior, and interactions with others.
  • Implementing Policies and Procedures – Enforce school or program policies and procedures to maintain a structured environment. This may include rules regarding behavior, attendance, and use of facilities.
  • Organizing Recreational Activities – Plan and coordinate recreational and social activities for students to participate in after school. These activities could include sports, arts and crafts, games, or clubs.
  • Managing Facilities – Ensure that the facility is clean, safe, and properly maintained. This may involve setting up rooms for activities, monitoring equipment usage, and reporting any maintenance issues.
  • Communicating with Parents and Staff – Maintain open communication with parents, teachers, and other staff members regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns that arise. This may include attending meetings or conferences as needed.
  • Handling Discipline Issues – Address disciplinary issues according to program policies. This could involve resolving conflicts between students, implementing consequences for rule violations, and communicating with parents about behavior problems.
  • Documenting Activities and Incidents – Keep records of daily activities, attendance, incidents, and any other relevant information. This documentation may be used for reporting purposes or to track student progress.
  • Supervising Staff – oversee other after‑school staff members such as assistants or volunteers, delegating tasks and providing guidance as needed.
  • Attending Training and Meetings – Participate in training sessions, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices and procedures for working with students in an after‑school setting.
  • Create and implement age‑appropriate lesson plans and activities for school‑aged children
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with school‑age children
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues
  • CPR and First Aid certification (not required but a plus)
  • Positive and patient demeanor
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to create a positive learning environment
  • A passion for working with young children and helping them reach their full potential
