Job summary

Bank Street College of Education is seeking an after-school program educator to care for and educate preschool children. Responsibilities include developing a comprehensive curriculum and ensuring children's well-being through active supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, with preference for a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, and experience in a childcare setting.

Work hours are Monday to Friday from 3:00 to 5:30 P.M., with pay at $19.20 per hour.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Educate and care for children in an after‑school program.
  • Develop a comprehensive curriculum and plan daily activities.
  • Interact with parents and staff to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well‑being of children by providing close supervision during all activities.
  • Promote exploration, creativity, and discovery to stimulate each child’s individual development.
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
  • Work cooperatively with other teachers, preparing materials and maintaining a clean setting.
  • Ensure compliance with all related regulatory guidelines, including Bank Street College, New York City Department of Health/Bureau of Day Care, and New York City Department of Education CACFP guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool children in a child‑care setting and managing a classroom preferred.
  • Willingness to collaborate as part of a team and develop skills in working with individual children, small groups, and the whole class.

Hours & Pay

Hours: 3:00‑5:30 P.M., Monday‑Friday. Part‑time: up to 14 hours per week. Pay: $19.20 per hour.
