Job summary

After-School All-Stars LA is seeking a part-time Teacher/Program Leader to support after-school enrichment for K-12 students in Los Angeles. You will assist in delivering academic enrichment and tutoring under the supervision of the ASAS-LA Program Coordinator, creating a safe and inspiring learning environment.

The ideal candidate has teaching credentials, First Aid/CPR, fingerprint clearance, a TB test, and fluency in another language is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience working with K-12 students in educational/community youth outreach settings.
• Ability to work cooperatively with School District staff, parents and community leaders.
• Familiarity with English/Language Arts, Math, Science benchmarks.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to emergencies.
• First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Possess a current teaching credential.
• Criminal background clearance by fingerprinting.
• TB test clearance within 60 days of start.
• Physical ability to lead and participate in activities.
• Fluency in a language other than English is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementing daily academic and tutoring initiatives under the program coordinator.
• Maintain a rigorous academic environment and sound classroom management with needed supplies.
• Supervise participants in the classroom.
• Communicate with participants and families regarding questions or concerns.
• Maintain professional attitude and conduct.
• Coordinate with program coordinator and school staff regarding activities.
• Engage with parents and families about program activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
