Boone County Board of Education is seeking an After-School Program Site Cook to support the Boone County After-School program. The role involves preparing meals, serving students, and ensuring sanitation across two days per week.

Responsibilities include following menus, maintaining temperatures, and completing meal counts and records. The position reports to the Principal and/or Child Nutrition Director and requires food safety certification.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and administrators.
  • Must possess or obtain any required food handler or food safety certification.

  • Follow established menus, recipes, portion sizes, and food preparation procedures.
  • Maintain proper food temperatures and follow all food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Set up the food service area prior to meal service.
  • Serve students in an efficient and courteous manner.
  • Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, serving areas, equipment, utensils, and other kitchen surfaces following meal service.
  • Properly store food and supplies at the conclusion of each work period.
  • Complete required meal counts, production records, or other documentation as directed.
  • Follow Boone County Schools policies and applicable state and federal child nutrition regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and orderly kitchen environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal, Child Nutrition Director, or designee.

AFTER-SCHOOL COOK

Job Purpose

Work Schedule

This position will work two (2) days per week, Monday and Wednesday, for two (2) hours per day, for a total of four (4) hours per week, during the operation of the after-school program.

The work schedule may be adjusted when necessary due to school closures, holidays, program cancellations, or other operational needs.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, lift, carry, and safely operate standard food-service equipment. The employee may be required to lift food, supplies, or equipment consistent with the physical requirements of a school food-service position.
