Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc in Bethesda, MD is seeking enthusiastic instructors to join our after-school enrichment program. Lead fun, interactive chess classes for elementary students, using our structured curriculum.

You’ll work 1–5 classes per week in local schools, with start times 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and will receive mileage reimbursement for trips over 15 miles. Training provided and opportunities for advancement in a flexible, kid-friendly role.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Comfort leading a class independently and creating interactive, fun sessions.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals; able to explain moves, basic strategy, and tactics to kids.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Teach chess fundamentals using the structured curriculum.
• Manage a lively, positive classroom and model good sportsmanship.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking in students.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrivals, dismissals, and activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.
