Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic instructors to lead after-school chess classes in Reading, PA. You will engage elementary students with our curriculum, foster a fun learning environment, and model positive sportsmanship.

Classes occur weekday afternoons, typically 2:00 PM–5:00 PM, with 1–5 sessions per week based on local school availability. We offer competitive pay per class ($50–$65), mileage reimbursement for long trips, and full training.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
• Comfort leading a class independently and creating interactive, friendly, and fun sessions.
• Professional, positive, and kid‑friendly demeanor.
• Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals; ability to explain piece movement, basic strategy, and simple tactics for kids.
• Ability to connect chess problem‑solving to real‑life situations.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between locations.
• Weekday afternoons availability (2:00 PM–5:00 PM) to teach 1–5 classes per week.
• Commitment to school safety protocols and reliable punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use our structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and promote good sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and in‑class activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.
