Job summary

Mentor Public Schools in Mentor, IN is hiring an afterschool program assistant to supervise groups of children, follow directions from a supervisor, and help maintain a safe environment.

You will lead developmentally appropriate activities, assist with planning, and communicate with students and families professionally; requires age 18+, HS diploma, and 500 hours of related experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 500 hours of related experience.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Maintain a good attendance record.
• Demonstrate sound judgment in routine and stressful situations.
• Proficiency in reading, math, oral and written communications.
• Must pass a physical examination.
• Remain free of alcohol or non-prescribed substances in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Accept directions and suggestions from immediate supervisor.
• Supervise large and small groups of children in an afterschool environment, independently and as part of a team.
• Ensure the safety of students at all times.
• Assist the program leader in planning the program and environment.
• Lead students in developmentally appropriate activities as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining records, charts, and other clerical work using current computer hardware and software.
• Communicate with students and families in a professional manner.
• Attend required in-services training sessions.
