San Antonio Christian School is seeking a nurturing and organized After School Care Coordinator to lead and manage the school's after-hours student care program. Located on a beautiful 71-acre campus, SACS is a non-denominational covenant Christian school with small class sizes and quality academics, coupled with a wide range of art and athletic opportunities which provide students with a Christ-centered education while fostering a life of faith and service.
This position ensures a Christ-centered, safe, and enriching environment for students during the after-school hours, supporting parents while fostering a love of learning, play, and community. The Director of After School Care is responsible for staff oversight, daily programming, compliance with safety standards, and collaboration with faculty and administration to meet the evolving needs of families.
This person shall be spiritually mature and shall instill a life of Faith, Character, and Academic Excellence in those around them, adhering to SACS Heart of a Lion Core Values.
Job Duties Competencies/Responsibilities
AREA 1 – After School Care Program Leadership
- Plan and implement daily after school care programming for students in grades PreK–5.
- Ensure a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment aligned with SACS’s Christian values.
- Supervise and support after-school care staff; coordinate schedules and manage breaks.
- Communicate program expectations and behavioral standards to students and staff.
- Organize age-appropriate activities, snacks, and enrichment opportunities.
- Monitor student behavior and address discipline needs with grace and consistency.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parent inquiries and communication.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure proper student check-in/check-out procedures.
- Ensure proper setup and cleanup of program areas daily.
AREA 2 – Program Administration and Collaboration
- Maintain staffing levels and oversee substitute coordination for after school team.
- Collaborate with the Business Office and HR regarding time reporting and payroll details.
- Communicate with faculty about student needs, schedules, or shared spaces.
- Ensure program areas are compliant with health and safety standards.
- Submit supply orders and manage after school care budget in coordination with the Lower School Principal.
- Support special events or early release day programming as needed.
- Maintain strong relationships with SACS parents, students, and staff to promote the school's mission.
Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma. Teaching degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience working with school-age children in a childcare setting
- CPR/First Aid Certified
- A born-again Christian with an evidenced deep, mature, and consistent relationship with Jesus Christ.
- An active member of a local evangelical church that aligns with the essential beliefs and statement of faith at San Antonio Christian School.
- Obvious love and desire to communicate the Gospel of Christ to young people.
- Highly relational with an established record of cultivating strong, appropriate relationships with students and adults.
- Agree and live by the school’s lifestyle and faith statements as a condition for employment and continued employment in this ministry.
- Effective written and verbal communicator.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
