Job summary

Indian Prairie School District 204 is seeking a part-time School Safety and Security Site Lead to oversee security for after-school events and evening programs in Aurora, IL. The role requires monitoring cameras, managing access, and coordinating with police, fire, and EMS as needed.

The position operates 3:00 pm - 9:06 pm on student attendance days and 8:00 am - 2:06 pm on non-student days, with a staff supervisor from the School Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years of prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or school operations preferred.
• Must hold a valid driver's license.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED Certificate or equivalent.
• Must complete district-approved ALICE training.

Responsibilities

• Surveillance and Patrol: Actively monitor campus security cameras, access control systems and conduct regular physical rounds of the building and grounds to ensure all areas are secure for extra-curricular activities.
• Emergency Response and De-escalation: Lead the initiation and coordination of emergency response protocols; use verbal de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts and address safety concerns.
• Liaison Duties: Serve as primary contact between first responders and school administration during incidents.
• Access Control and Visitor Management: Verify authorized access for after-school activities and rentals.
• Safety Promotion: Report vulnerabilities and promote a safe school environment.
• Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality and collaborate with staff and community members.
• Communication & Operations: Maintain radio contact; track schedules and occupancy.
• Documentation & Reporting: Provide verbal updates and written quarterly reports on incidents and concerns.
