Job summary

Catapult Learning, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Teacher for an after-school program in Passaic, NJ. This non-exempt, part-time role supports daily classroom activities and student engagement in a safe, structured environment.

The position requires assisting with operations, supervision, and collaboration with staff and families. Training, background checks, and a focus on child safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates in Childcare or CDA is required.
• Pediatric/CPR First Aid certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Support child engagement, classroom organization, and daily program activities.
• Provide consistent supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes pro-social behavior and student engagement.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, and staff.
• Implement behavior management strategies aligned with program philosophy.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student and family information.
• Participate in required staff meetings, training, and school events.
• Complete a minimum of 12 hours of annual professional development, including required orientation training.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations outlined in the New Jersey Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers.
