Arts for Learning Maryland is seeking a Substitute Mentor Teaching Artist for the After-School Enrichment program at Collington Square ES/MS in Baltimore. You will mentor emerging artists, plan engaging arts exploration workshops, and ensure student safety before, during, and after program hours.

Responsibilities include modeling best practices, leading daily workshops, building a positive school climate, and collaborating with staff, families, and community partners.

• A passion for mentorship, coaching and talent development.
• Strong communication skills, with an ability to express thoughts clearly.
• An ability to effectively provide feedback.
• Demonstrable expertise in an art form, and ability to present artistic samples.
• A willingness to be flexible in service to the After-School Enrichment program, organized by Arts For Learning Maryland.
• A passion for students and the ability to build meaningful relationships, and a desire to “go above and beyond” to ensure each student’s success.

• Mentor a group of emerging artists by exemplifying best teaching artist practices by way of: Working alongside emerging artists to yield engaging arts explorations for students.
• Modeling best practices through enrichment lessons with students.
• Lead a group of students in daily arts explorations workshops.
• Establish a positive and productive after school climate for all students.
• Build relationships with students, staff, and parents to create a positive, supportive community within the classroom and site.
• Collaborate with and provide support for various partners and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Classroom and Site Leads to ensure a safe and effective program for students.
• Follow and uphold all site health and safety procedures.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
