Job summary

  • Able to work Monday–Friday afternoons and summers as needed.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the UA House Director, the Enrichment Educator will plan and execute project-based learning with 1st through 8th grade students. Projects must culminate in a final product to be shared at quarterly showcases. Direct service may include but is not limited to homework assistance as well as facilitating nutrition, technology, art or sports coaching. We are seeking experienced, caring and reliable educators to join our team of dynamic out-of-school professionals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare and develop age, and skill appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, activities and special projects that fuse the arts or technology to academic competencies
  • Plan and facilitate project-based unit (4) throughout the course of the afterschool program
  • Engage youth in the following areas through project-based learning:
  • Respect (of oneself and others)
  • Healthy habits and choices
  • Decision-making skills
  • Hands on, project-based learning
  • Community-building
  • Service learning
  • Produce student presentations (4) for quarterly showcases
  • Research and uplift subject-related field trips, guest speakers, special events, student exhibitions and college trips
  • Provide a high-quality learning environment for young people
  • Foster an environment of cooperation and respect for 15 – 20 school-aged children at a time
  • Closely always supervise children through routine head counts, attendance logs etc.
  • Support student pick-up from partner schools when needed
  • Ensure accurate and orderly transition and dismissal of students
  • Follow designated schedule and establish solid classroom routines for students
  • Establish system for positive reinforcement, classroom management and follow program-wide student discipline protocols
  • Always maintain a neat and organized learning space
  • Keep an inventory of all classroom materials
  • Maintain a professional, pleasant and welcoming attitude with all students, families and staff
  • Work to meet program goals and objectives
  • Participate in staff meetings, brainstorms and on-going training opportunities
  • Contribute to program-wide special events such as quarterly showcases and holiday activities
  • Comply with all LCF policies and procedures
  • Perform related tasks as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • School Year Hours, Monday through Friday, 2pm to 6pm
  • Summer Hours, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm (hours may vary based on site)
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 1 year of experience working with school-aged children in an educational environment
  • Ability to be on fee t for extended periods of time (3 hours)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The UA House is a state-of-the-art youth and community development facility comprised of one multi-purpose space, kitchenette, and regulation-sized turf field in the UA House.
