Job summary

Hingham Public Schools is seeking a nurturing and creative high school/college student to assist in the Kids in Action after‑school program at Foster Elementary School in Hingham, MA. You will supervise children, support teachers, and help plan engaging activities in a team environment, with emphasis on safety, cooperation, and positive interactions after school hours.

You will work as part of a collaborative team, providing a supportive presence for children aged from elementary to early teen

Qualifications

• Compassionate and positive attitude.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Cooperative and flexible.
• Physically able to set up and take down folding tables.
• Physically able to lift items up to 20lbs.
• Clear all HPS and EEC Background checks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well‑being of the children; monitor behavior and help children follow rules.
• Work 1:1 with children needing extra support when required.
• Assist in planning developmentally appropriate activities.
• Help children engage in activities and promote positive interactions with others.
• Implement daily activities set forth by teachers.
• Participate in all activities and set a positive example for the children.
• Keep Kids in Action space and housekeeping areas clean, neat and organized.
• Participate in daily setup and breakdown of the space.
• Assist in preparation and clean-up of snacks and materials.
• Complete three hours of EEC StrongStart Professional Development.
• Complete First Aid and CPR training annually.
• Other duties as assigned
