Job summary

New Hanover County is seeking an After Hours Social Worker to support Adult and Children's Protective Services during after-hours periods. This role will involve telework options and fieldwork primarily in homes, courts, and communities within the county.

Work rotates on a 14-day schedule, totaling 84 hours per pay period with every other weekend off. Strong written and verbal skills, plus proficiency in modern office technology, are preferred.

Qualifications

• MSW from an accredited school or BSW with related experience as listed in the minimum qualifications.
• Four-year degree with 15 social work credits and 2 years of related experience OR four-year degree with 3 years of related social work experience.
• Must have a valid Driver's license and good driving record.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform social work functions for Adult and Children's Protective Services during after-hours.
• Receive and screen all reports of alleged abuse and neglect; initiate investigations as needed.
• Assess risk and develop/implement safety plans for victims.
• Secure and file custody orders and involuntary commitments; testify in court.
