Job summary

New Hanover County’s Social Services Department seeks a qualified child welfare professional to assess risk, plan, and implement family-centered interventions ensuring child safety and permanency.

Responsibilities include home/community visits, conducting comprehensive assessments, and coordinating with families and partners. Telework may be available part-time; strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum MSW or BSW with related experience as specified.
• Strong knowledge of child welfare and case management.
• Ability to assess risk, plan, and ensure safety of children.
• Proficient written and verbal communication; problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with diverse families and teams.

Responsibilities

• Receive and screen reports of suspected child abuse/neglect.
• Provide direct services and comprehensive assessments to families.
• Develop case plans to ensure child safety and permanency.
• Maintain documentation in accordance with regulations.
• Travel to homes, court, and community settings; telework may be possible.
