Job summary

Tucson Medical Center seeks a Registered Nurse PRN Triage Nurse for Hospice to work after-hours, delivering compassionate care to terminally ill patients and supporting families using the nursing process.

The RN will triage issues, provide comfort-focused care, educate patients and caregivers, document care in the EMR, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary hospice team to maintain quality of life and safety.

Qualifications

Graduation from a qualified, nationally-accredited nursing program.
Three (3) years of related experience, preferably in an emergency room or primary care setting.
Current RN licensure in Arizona and BLS certification; Fingerprint Card within 3 months of hire.
Familiarity with EMR systems and triage tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

Triage issues and visit terminally ill patients and families after hours.
Provide comfort care and maximize quality of life.
Assist patients and families with empathy while maintaining confidentiality.
Provide direct care per Plan of Care and manage primary responsibility for case management.
Instruct on medication administration and care activities for patient and caregiver.
Document patient status and care in EMR with ongoing assessments.
Be available to meet patient/family needs during crises.
Coordinate with hospice team and participate in team meetings.
Conduct patient intakes/admissions and explain hospice benefits.
Orient and educate assigned personnel.
Uphold TMCH values and safety policies.
