Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Afterhours Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive hospice care for patients and families in Tucson, primarily evenings and weekends. The role includes crisis responsiveness, in-person visits, and reassessment of patient needs on a 15-day cycle.

This is a full-time position with two 12-hour weekend shifts and two 8-hour weekday shifts, offering annual pay between $77,824 and $116,736, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Education: Current unrestricted RN licensure in the state of practice.
• Experience: 1+ years of clinical experience preferred.
• Licenses & Certifications: Valid driver's license and access to dependable vehicle or public transportation.
• Licenses & Certifications: CPR certification current or ability to complete within 90 days of hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Triage patient needs over the phone until an in-person visit by a nurse can occur.
• Respond to crisis calls from patients and families after hours with urgency.
• Make initial nursing evaluation to determine hospice eligibility within 48 hours of referral if assigned.
• Perform afterhours visits including admissions, death, recertifications, and routine visits.
• Identify patient/family physical, psychosocial, emotional, and environmental needs and reassess every 15 days.
• Document problems, goals, interventions, and patient/family response to hospice care.
