Responsibilities

• Plan activities: arts, crafts, games, stories, outdoor play, and quiet time.
• Encourage positive social interactions and cooperation.

• Communicate daily with parents about activities and well-being.
• Report concerns to the Preschool Director promptly.

Position Summary

The Aftercare Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for preschool-aged children participating in the school's after-care program. The individual will supervise children during afternoon activities, promote positive social interactions, and support the Catholic mission and values of the preschool. The ideal candidate demonstrates a love for working with young children, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a caring and faith-filled community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide attentive supervision to children ages 3-5 during after-care hours.
• Ensure the safety, well-being, and security of all children at all times.
• Assist children with bathroom needs, snacks, and age-appropriate self-help skills as needed.
• Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios in accordance with state licensing regulations
• Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games, stories, outdoor play, and quiet-time activities.
• Encourage positive social interactions, cooperation, and respect among children.
• Support children's emotional, physical, social, and spiritual development.
• Prepare materials and clean up activity areas as needed
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Communicate daily with parents regarding children's activities, behavior, and well-being.
• Report concerns, accidents, or incidents promptly to the Preschool Director.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming after-care environment.
• Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and licensing requirements.
• Assist with setting up and closing down after-care spaces.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Previous experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
• Ability to supervise and engage young children in a group setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and professionalism.
• Practicing Catholic with commitment to supporting the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
• Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the day.

Certifications/Requirements

• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Completion of required diocesan safe environment training and background checks.
• Compliance with all state licensing and diocesan requirements.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 2:45 pm – 5:30 pm

M-F(Part-Time) hours may vary

Hourly compensation commensurate with experience.
