Job summary

Rockwern Academy seeks an aftercare team member for our early childhood program (12 months through pre-k). You will support a nurturing, play-based environment, communicate with families, and uphold professional expectations with staff and parents.

The role includes greeting children, supervising indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety and confidentiality, and collaborating with colleagues to create an inviting classroom that meets developmental needs.

• Help create and maintain a safe, organized, fair, effective, and inviting classroom reflecting mindfulness of students' physical, social, and intellectual development and needs
• Assist with classroom behavior in age-appropriate ways
• Greet children daily as they enter the classroom; demonstrate respect and empathy for all children and parents
• Joyfully engage in activities, both indoors and outdoors
• Maintain confidentiality at all times
• Treat children, staff, and parents with respect
• Demonstrate commitment to teamwork and collegiality by helping others and accepting suggestions for improvement

Job description

OBJECTIVE

To support Rockwern Academy's mission by providing a nurturing play-based experience to children. The ideal candidate will maintain open lines of communication with parents, administrators, and other staff and will base expectations, practice, and behavior with a high degree of professionalism.

Aftercare staff must be at least 18 years of age. We have openings for our early childhood (12 months through pre-k) students during the school year (August 13, 2026 - May 26, 2027). Aftercare times are Mondays-Thursdays 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM and Fridays 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM. We are willing to be flexible with days.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the ECEC director.
