Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a highly motivated analyst to build and apply modeling and simulation tools for air combat systems, strike weapons, and multi‑domain sensing. You will inform system requirements, acquisition decisions, and force design through mission‑level analysis.

You will work with engineers and decision-makers to frame questions, run simulations using MATLAB/Python, and communicate findings clearly in a collaborative, security‑conscious environment.

Qualifications

• PhD required in a technical field (engineering, physics, CS, OR) or closely related discipline.
• Experience developing or applying models and simulations.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and/or C++ for scientific computing.
• Ability to work independently and communicate complex results to stakeholders.
• Eligible for Interim Secret to Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build, integrate, test, and improve models of aircraft, weapons, sensors, countermeasures, and communications.
• Apply AFSIM and other tools to analyze air combat and precision strike missions.
• Design simulation experiments and evaluate performance at multiple levels.
• Use MATLAB, Python, and other software to automate simulations, process data, visualize results, and improve workflows.
• Collaborate with engineers, operators, program offices, and decision-makers to frame questions and communicate findings.
