Job summary

City of Shreveport seeks an experienced AFIS Supervisor to oversee daily operator activities, train staff, and manage shift schedules. You will ensure accuracy of AFIS transactions and compliance with policies while coordinating corrections before reporting to the Louisiana Bureau of Identification.

The role requires strong communication, leadership and fingerprint identification knowledge, with responsibilities spanning performance reviews and resource management within a public safety context.

Qualifications

• Two years college credit or two years of fingerprint classification experience.
• Basic Fingerprint Identification course completed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• No felony convictions or warrants.
• Two years experience creating documents with WordPerfect.
• Holds or can qualify for required government certificates.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates daily AFIS Operator activities.
• Performs all tasks normally required of an AFIS Operator.
• Prepares work schedules for all shifts and manages time off.
• Conducts performance evaluations.
• Oversees and conducts training of new AFIS Operators.
• Recommends hires, pay raises and other personnel actions.
• Compiles data, tracks supplies and ensures shifts are staffed and tasks completed.
• Monitors expenditures of allocated funds.
• Ensures compliance with Full Function Remote policies for transactions.
• Identifies and resolves AFIS system or transaction problems; informs AFIS Admin.
• Reviews and approves corrections before sending to the Louisiana Bureau of Identification.
• Monitors daily arrest log and drafts correspondence or corrections when needed.
