Job summary

The City of Shreveport is seeking a fingerprint technician to process fingerprint images, initiate search/match operations, and ensure correct classification using AFIS/LIVESCAN systems. You will review system outputs, override data when needed, and assist in maintaining agency records.

Responsibilities include compiling information from criminal justice agencies, monitoring access to arrest histories, and supporting the Investigations Bureau and Identification Unit.

Qualifications

• Two years of college credit including Criminal Justice or Fingerprint Science, or two years of fingerprint classification experience.
• Possession of or ability to obtain access to LLETS and NCIC, with no felony convictions or outstanding warrants.
• Knowledge of AFIS, fingerprint pattern classification, biometric systems, and related computer functions.
• Two years of experience using Microsoft Windows.

Responsibilities

• Process fingerprint images and initiate search/match using AFIS and Livescan.
• Monitor input classifications and correct data; position and process prints as needed.
• Compile and disseminate information from criminal justice agencies; maintain access logs (LLETS/NCIC).
• Assist the Investigations Bureau and Identification Unit; perform other duties as required.
