Job description

SUMMARY

The Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist position is focused on providing exceptional customer service while partnering with clients to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance. It offers the flexibility to work remotely, allowing dedicated focus while being supported by a company that leads the affordable compliance industry.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Client Support
  2. Serve as the first point of contact for clients by communicating with site managers via telephone and/or email to answer questions regarding affordable housing compliance and to provide guidance and training to enhance their understanding of applicable requirements.
  3. File Reviews
  4. Electronically review applicant and resident files through a web-based system to ensure compliance with federal and state program regulations within contractual deadlines, seeking assistance if circumstances prevent timely reviews.
  5. Analyze potential risks to prevent compliance issues.
  6. Communication
  7. Provide comprehensive written communication to relay file deficiencies.
  8. Ensure important information is communicated to relevant parties.
  9. Listen effectively to understand the comments and questions of others.
  10. Use verbal skills to support clients as described above.
  11. Engage with internal and external customers with professionalism and empathy.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in affordable housing compliance, including certification auditing.
  • Working knowledge of LIHTC and HUD program requirements.
  • Attention to detail, time management, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Vigilance in following up to ensure compliance plans are implemented effectively.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a sense of urgency in tasks.
