Job summary

Bell Bank Mortgage is seeking a Mortgage Community Development Loan Officer to expand sustainable homeownership for low-to-moderate income communities in Minnesota. You will originate loans, assess borrower needs, and guide applicants through the home financing process while promoting CRA and Fair Lending objectives.

You will build partnerships with nonprofits and housing agencies, lead outreach events, and collaborate with internal teams to align community initiatives with business goals,

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years of recent residential mortgage loan origination experience, preferably supporting affordable lending, CRA or Fair Lending initiatives.
• Active NMLS registration and ability to maintain licensing requirements.
• Experience with mortgage regulations, compliance requirements, investor guidelines, and secondary market standards.
• Bilingual or multilingual communication skills preferred.
• Ability to travel within the market area and attend community events.

Responsibilities

• Originate residential mortgage loans in compliance with agency, investor, regulatory, and bank portfolio guidelines, focusing on CRA and Fair Lending.
• Consult with prospective borrowers to assess financing needs and guide them through home financing.
• Collect, verify, and analyze borrower information for loan applications and disclosures.
• Evaluate creditworthiness and determine eligibility for affordable lending and down payment assistance.
• Structure loan transactions to align with product requirements and investor guidelines.
• Coordinate with processors, underwriters, and borrowers for a seamless experience.
• Develop and execute community development outreach plans and partnerships.
