Job summary

Intuitive Machines seeks an Aerospace Welding Engineer to own welding and joining processes for mission-critical spaceflight hardware in Houston, TX. You will translate design requirements into qualified production processes, support welders and inspectors, and ensure assemblies meet drawings and program requirements.

The role combines welding metallurgy expertise with practical experience delivering high-reliability aerospace hardware, including GTAW and GMAW processes, with hands-on shop-floor

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
• 3+ years of engineering experience developing or supporting welding and joining processes for aerospace, defense, or high-reliability hardware.
• Working knowledge of aerospace welding standards and qualification practices (AWS D17.1/D17.1M, ASME Section IX).
• Experience creating and qualifying welding procedures and interpreting qualification records.
• Strong knowledge of welding metallurgy, joint design, heat treatment, distortion control, and failure mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, release, and maintain welding procedures and supporting documentation (WPS, PQR, qualifications).
• Serve as the technical authority for welding of flight and ground-support hardware.
• Review drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and material callouts for producibility and compliance.
• Establish and control process variables, tooling, shielding, cleanliness, fit-up, filler materials, heat input, and post-weld heat treatment.
• Lead investigations into weld-related nonconformances and develop corrective actions.
