Qualifications

• Defect-free X-ray quality welds to AWS D17.1 specs.
• Technical welding training or certification preferred; no degree required with experience.
• 2–5 years of orbital welding experience in aerospace components.
• Ability to read/interpret complex drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Operate orbital welding equipment and develop weld programs for thin-walled tubes.
• Work in a spacecraft clean room and maintain a neat, safe workspace.
• Inspect welds visually and ensure compliance with space industry regs.
• Collaborate with engineering to design and test space components.
• Read blueprints and apply engineering principles to solve welding problems.

About the Position:

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Orbital GTAW tube welder to join our team who is capable of welding on critical spacecraft thin-walled Inconel, Titanium and Stainless-Steel tubes. The ideal candidate will possess both welding expertise and engineering knowledge to work on specialized space parts and hardware. This role is crucial in ensuring the structural integrity and precision of components designed for space missions. This role is posted at multiple levels of experience.

Responsibilities

• Experienceoperatingthe AMI M217 and the Polysoude P4-4 orbital welding machines preferred.
• Ability to developed orbital weld programs for thin wall tubes.
• Working in a spacecraft building clean room environment.
• Maintain clean and efficient workspace.
• Experience in the use of tools for visual weld inspection.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS teams.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to help design and test space components, ensuring they meet technical specifications and mission requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications todeterminewelding and fabrication requirements.
• Utilize engineering principles to analyze and solve welding-related problems.
• Operate andmaintainorbital welding equipment ensuring they are inoptimalcondition.
• Conduct visual inspections of welded joints to ensure they meet strict quality standards and compliance with space industry regulations.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding and fabrication processes, efficiency, and quality.
• Adhere to safety protocols andmaintaina clean, organized work environment.

Requirements

• Operator willbe requiredto achieve defect-free X-ray quality welds working to AWS D17.1 specifications.
• Technical training or certification in welding preferred. No degree is also applicable with years of experience.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of orbital welding experience, with a focus on aerospace or space industry components.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
• Welding materials commonly used in aerospace applications, such as Titanium Ti-6Al-4V, Aluminum 6061, 316L Stainless Steel, and Inconel Alloy 625.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
