Job summary

Machina Labs is seeking a Welder/Fitter to perform precision fabrication, fitting, assembly, tack welding, and welding of complex metallic components. You will translate engineering requirements from drawings, weld symbols, and travelers to ensure dimensional accuracy, proper fit-up, cleanliness, and traceability.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on fabricator with strong attention to detail and the ability to work with Engineering, Quality, and Production to address challenges.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated professional welding, fitting, fabrication experience.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, weld symbols, GD&T, and work instructions.
• Strong hands-on fabrication and mechanical assembly skills.
• Experience with precision measurement and alignment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, GD&T, specifications, work instructions, weld procedures, and travelers.
• Perform precision layout, measurement, cutting, forming, fitting, tack welding, welding, and assembly of metallic components and structures.
• Fit and align components using fixtures, clamps, tooling, and other fabrication equipment.
• Fabricate components from sheet metal, plate, tubing, structural members, and thin-wall materials.
• Perform welding operations in accordance with approved procedures and specifications.
• Work with various metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel alloys.
• Set up and properly use welding equipment, fixtures, tooling, purge systems, clamps, and hand tools.
• Use precision measurement tools to verify dimensional accuracy and geometry.
• Maintain cleanliness, purge practices, and FOD prevention.
• Identify and troubleshoot fabrication and welding issues with Engineering and Quality.
• Maintain documentation within digital systems and travelers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve challenges and improve processes.
• Support first-article builds, new product introduction, and production ramp activities.
