Job summary

Smith Brothers Tool Company is seeking a skilled fitter/welder in our Shelby Township, MI shop. You will translate blueprints into precise part layouts and assemblies, then fit and weld aluminum and stainless steel components for aerospace applications.

Using MIG, TIG, and stick processes, you will create robust joints, perform inspections, and work with engineers to resolve fabrication challenges while maintaining a safe, organized workspace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; welding/fabrication certification preferred.
• Hands-on Fitter/Welder experience, ideally in aerospace.
• Deep familiarity with aerospace-relevant materials and welding methods.
• Proven blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and quality-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Translate blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications into accurate part layouts and assemblies.
• Fit and weld aluminum and stainless steel components for aerospace applications.
• Apply MIG, TIG, and stick processes to produce robust, reliable joints.
• Perform thorough inspections; fine-tune work to meet all specifications and quality requirements.
• Partner with engineers and peers to diagnose and solve fabrication challenges.
• Uphold shop safety and organization to maintain a clean, efficient workspace.
