Aerospace Test Laboratory Technician

Sylmar, CA

PPG Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aerospace Test Lab Technician to join our team.

As a Test Lab Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of mechanical tests and experiments in our test lab. Your primary objective will be to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our products through rigorous testing procedures. You will also be responsible for maintaining and calibrating test lab equipment, managing electronic test records, and assisting with the repair and calibration of various controls and instruments. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

You will work on-site at our facility in Sylmar, CA and report to the Engineering Test Lab Supervisor

Responsibilities:

• Prepare test specimens and machine test coupons in accordance with acceptance test requirements for production programs.
• Perform mechanical tests on test specimens, ensuring adherence to quality acceptance testing procedures.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and ensure proper operation of test lab equipment.
• Manage manual and electronic test records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with the calibration, setup, and repair of various controls, instruments, and gauges.
• Disassemble instruments and examine components for problems, resolving any issues encountered.
• Utilize power tools such as a band saw, drill press, router table, mill, and lathe for mechanical fabrication and assembly.
• Use handheld measuring instruments, including calipers and micrometers, to ensure accurate measurements.
• Demonstrate computer literacy skills, including proficiency in electronic spreadsheets (Excel) and general word processing software.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma with 2+ years of experience in a technical field or currently pursuing a 2-4 year technical degree.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State to conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations.

The base salary range for this position is $45,000.00 to $52,000.00 based on experience.
