Job summary

Saab West Lafayette in Indiana is seeking a Technical Writer to join our quality organization and serve as the local SME for technical writing across shifts. You will generate NCRs, Inspection Plans, FAI, MRB dispositions and ensure documentation aligns with customer and industry standards.

You will lead training, monitor writing performance, and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence while supporting continuous improvement and Saab's core values of Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required
• Ability to interpret and revise written documentation/work instructions for consistency and efficiency
• Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrates a collaborative approach to problem-solving and is self-driven
• Ability to work extended hours when needed

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across multiple shifts
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership
• Identify common/repeated quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Develop best practices for technical writing; maintain/update best practices
• Generate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements (ISO/AS/IATF)
• Ensure controls/solutions provide high-quality products to customers within schedule
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments
• Contribute to Saab’s people-first culture and core values
• Handle other projects and tasks as assigned
