Job summary

Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) in Redmond, WA is seeking a Technical Writer to join the Engineering Services Team. This hybrid/on-site role offers flexibility to work from home two or three days per week.

The ideal candidate will write and edit technical content in STE for hardware and software products, conduct SME interviews, and ensure compliance with established standards and specifications in an aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Human-Centered Design Engineering, English, or similar.
• Two or more years of experience as a technical writer.
• Experience writing content that complies with ATA100, iSpec2200, or S1000D specifications; aerospace a plus.
• Knowledge of markup languages such as DITA, HTML, or CSS.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Write and edit technical content in Simplified Technical English (STE) for hardware and software products.
• Research and translate technical information for nontechnical and technical users.
• Produce deliverables that conform to established documentation standards.
• Review work of others for completeness and accuracy.
• Interview SMEs to gather content.
• Participate in staff meetings and internal initiatives.
