Job summary

CFD Research Corporation in Huntsville, AL seeks a full-time Systems Reliability Engineer to mature reliability frameworks for a complex aerospace/defense system. The role collaborates across design, test, manufacturing, quality, and program leadership to maintain and improve reliability models and analyses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in reliability engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Three or more years of reliability engineering or related experience.
  • Experience with quantitative reliability prediction models for complex hardware systems.
  • Experience with FMEA / FMECA and fault-tree analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and mature the system reliability prediction model using Windchill.
  • Maintain consistency between the reliability model and current system configuration.
  • Update predictions as designs mature and data becomes available.
  • Develop and maintain reliability allocations and predictions at system, subsystem, and component levels.
  • Evaluate predicted reliability against requirements and identify drivers and margins.
  • Collaborate with design teams to obtain data and operating conditions for the reliability model.
  • Develop and maintain system-level FMEA and FMECA analyses.
  • Coordinate failure-mode information with engineering teams.
  • Maintain severity, criticality, and consequences analyses.
  • Develop and maintain reliability fault-tree analyses where appropriate.
  • Analyze failure data to identify trends and risks.
  • Support the FRACAS process with technical analysis.
  • Investigate failures to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Use test, manufacturing, and operation data to refine assumptions.
  • Assess reliability impact of design changes and corrective actions.
  • Maintain traceability between reliability outputs and baseline.
  • Identify reliability-critical items using various inputs.
  • Generate reliability results for reviews and customer deliverables.
  • Collaborate with maintainability andMBSE engineers to ensure detectability and maintainability.
  • Provide reliability data to system safety owners when needed.
