Job summary

Shield AI is seeking an experienced Supplier Development Engineer to lead technical collaboration with aerospace suppliers for welded airframes and sheet metal structures. You will drive capability assessments, process audits, and manufacturing readiness, while partnering with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to meet cost, schedule, and performance targets.

The role requires 7+ years in aerospace supplier development, strong knowledge of welding and GD&T, and the ability to lead

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field.
• 7+ years in aerospace supplier development or related roles.
• Experience with large welded airframe structures and sheet metal components.
• Knowledge of welding processes and aerospace standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical development and supplier performance for welded assemblies.
• Perform supplier capability assessments and process audits.
• Interface between suppliers and internal engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
• Drive manufacturability and tooling readiness for large structures.
• Lead root-cause analyses and corrective-action plans (8D, 5-Why).
