Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Supplier Development Engineer – Propulsion & Landing Gear to lead the technical development and industrialization of suppliers for airframe structures, landing gear, and propulsion hardware. You will assess capabilities, readiness, and quality, partnering with Engineering, Quality, and Program teams to support supplier selection, NPI, qualification, and ramp-up.

A U.S. government security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related field.
• 7+ years in supplier development, manufacturing engineering, or related aerospace roles.
• Experience with supplier recovery and production ramp-up.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier tech development and performance improvements for critical mechanical commodities.
• Assess supplier capabilities, capacity, quality systems, and processing readiness.
• Conduct capability assessments, MRBs, and production readiness reviews.
• Co-ordinate with Engineering and Supply Chain to select suppliers meeting requirements.
• Lead onsite supplier development and recovery efforts and communicate progress to leadership.
• Review drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and special-process requirements with suppliers.
• Drive DFMA discussions to improve producibility and reduce lead times.
• Develop supplier development and production ramp-up plans and corrective actions.
