Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks an Aeronautical Engineer – Subsystem Design Engineer for on-site roles in El Segundo or Palmdale, CA. You will translate system requirements into detailed subsystem specifications, support multidisciplinary integration, and perform design analyses to ensure compliant, reliable subsystems.

The role requires a STEM degree with related experience, CAD proficiency (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks), and an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in STEM with related engineering experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency with CAD and drafting tools (CATIA/NX/SolidWorks) and BOM creation.
• Experience with subsystem test planning, bench/HIL testing, and analyses.
• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance (required) and ability to obtain SAP access.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop subsystem components meeting performance and reliability requirements.
• Translate system requirements into detailed subsystem specifications and drawings.
• Perform trade studies and simulations (stress, aeroelasticity, thermal, vibration).
• Create and maintain schematics, BOMs, test plans, and verification matrices.
• Support integration with other engineering disciplines for compatibility and producibility.
• Plan and analyze subsystem-level tests and address design deficiencies.
