Job summary

United Launch Alliance in Decatur, Alabama, seeks a Major Structures Engineering Leader to guide an engineering organization focused on tank fabrication, welds, major structural assemblies, and composite structures. You will drive safety, quality, and production efficiency while coordinating with Operations, Quality, and Program Management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience plus a minimum of 4 years of management or leadership experience leading teams.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in development, production, integration, or sustainment of complex aerospace or high-rate production environments.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and resolving complex technical issues.
• Experience in a production/manufacturing environment with integrated engineering execution across Operations, Quality, and technical organizations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering organization supporting tank fabrication, weld, major structural assemblies, and composite structures.
• Provide engineering leadership and accountability through hardware fabrication, assembly, inspection, acceptance, and certification.
• Partner with Operations and Quality leadership to align engineering priorities with production needs and business objectives.
• Drive timely resolution of technical issues affecting safety, quality, cost, schedule, and hardware certification.
• Integrate production support engineering and related functions to resolve complex issues.
• Drive recurring issue elimination and continuous improvement in production constraints and processes.
• Ensure engineering changes and open technical work are managed while maintaining certification integrity.
• Establish and monitor performance measures for engineering responsiveness and production continuity.
• Develop staffing and succession plans to support increasing production cadence and long-term capability.
• Foster a One Team culture across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Programs.
