Job summary

RTX invites motivated students to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test team in Tucson for an internship. You will work one-on-one with a senior engineer on structural and thermal analyses and related testing, contributing to robust designs across Raytheon products.

You will develop hands-on skills in FEA, perform calculations, and generate documented results while interacting with peers and customers. This role is onsite in the US and offers exposure to aerospace/defense programs.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related (STEM) major and actively
• Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools such as ANSYS Workbench, Patran, Nastran, or Thermal Desktop.
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
• GPA of 3.0 (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Derive mechanical and thermal loads and environments
• Perform hand calculations for higher order detailed analysis
• Conduct detailed structural or thermal analyses to solve challenging problems
• Perform peer reviews to validate analysis processes and results
• Present results to customers
• Generate detailed, archival technical reports
