Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist with a strong technical background in aerospace materials and a minimum of 5 years in similar roles. The role focuses on global supplier qualification, cost and lead-time management, and delivering innovative procurement solutions.

The position offers remote work with international travel, collaboration across engineering, quality, and finance teams, and opportunities to shape procurement strategy for a space-based broadband network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in strategic sourcing or supplier development in aerospace.
• Knowledge of composite, plastic, metallic materials and their manufacturing processes in aerospace.
• Proven experience with international negotiations and sourcing projects.
• Strong data analysis, cost modeling, and strategic decision-making.
• Fluent in English; Spanish a plus.
• Proficient with Excel, ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite) and sourcing platforms.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end sourcing cycles (RFI, RFQ, RFP, bid evaluation) per AST standards.
• Identify, qualify, and develop strategic suppliers globally, with a focus on aerospace components.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Finance to ensure supply chain alignment.
• Execute strategic sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Build and present detailed business cases to support sourcing decisions and cost-saving initiatives.
• Conduct cost benchmarking and evaluate Total Cost of Ownership.
• Define procurement activity plans and sourcing calendars.
• Manage supplier databases and sourcing dashboards for data-driven decisions.
• Negotiate complex, high-value supplier contracts focusing on cost, lead time, and performance.
• Monitor supplier KPIs and implement corrective actions.
• Act as SPOC between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure timely certification, inspection, and delivery of materials.
• Track procurement progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Maintain compliance with aerospace standards and risk controls.
• Support category strategy development and continuous improvement.
