Job summary

American IT Systems is seeking a senior professional to oversee aerospace software process auditing, ensuring compliance with DO-178/SAE ARP and regulatory standards. You will interface with multiple teams and manage documentation reviews and change control processes.

The role requires extensive experience in embedded software and government programs, with strong communication and mentoring abilities. Travel may be required to support audits and program activities.

Qualifications

• 11+ years aerospace/defense software process experience (RTCA DO-178/DO-254, SAE ARP-4754, MIL-STD-498).
• FAA/government project experience preferred.
• Understanding of audit techniques and software development methods.
• Ability to interpret contracts and specifications for process review.
• Experience in software requirements development and embedded languages.
• Strong written and verbal communication, technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Interface with systems/software development, test/evaluation personnel, and project managers.
• Collaborate in a team with strong customer interface and interpersonal skills.
• Rapidly up to speed on software process auditor scope, requirements, risks, and milestones.
• Review/approve system, software and test docs for compliance to process standards.
• Work with engineering to ensure processes meet contractual/company requirements.
• Participate in software change control process boards.
• Moderate travel to support program activities/auditing suppliers.
• Mentor and train junior staff as required.
