Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in Hampton, VA is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Operator for the Industrial Gas Turbine group. The role involves coordinating activities of workers handling incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment weekly.

This on-site position offers a 2nd shift, M-F 4pm-12am with a $1.00 per hour shift premium. Applicants must have a HS diploma and at least one year of related experience, and be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Resume and two professional references required for review.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of one year of related experience and/or training.
• Must be available for all shifts (including 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts).
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.
• Position involves access to export-controlled items.

Responsibilities

• Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment weekly.
• Coordinates departmental activities to meet shipping and receiving objectives.
• Understands shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, and records to determine priorities.
• Ensures compliance with DOT regulations and correctly classifies hazardous material shipments.
• Directs movement of shipments from shipping to storage areas and maintains shipping supplies inventory.
