Job summary

Hermeus is hiring a Sheet Metal Shop Technician for 2nd shift to support precision fabrication of complex flight hardware. You will set up, operate, and maintain laser cutters, press brakes, and related forming tools to meet aerospace standards.

This hands-on role requires mentoring junior operators, collaborating with engineering, and driving process improvements while ensuring safety and quality in a high-velocity shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of experience operating and maintaining machinery in precision fabrication or aerospace.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain sheet metal fabrication equipment (lasers, press brakes, rollers, English wheels, shrinkers/stretchers).
• Read drawings and ensure components meet dimensional/quality specs.
• Perform precision measurement with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, radius gauges.
• Collaborate with engineers to refine fabrication processes for tight-tolerance hardware.
• Execute basic assembly including drilling, riveting and fastening.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment.
• Train operators on safe, efficient setup and operation.
• Maintain organized, safe workspace and support continuous improvement.
• Suggest improvements to work instructions and tooling designs.
