Job summary

Muon Space, Inc. is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to protect our satellites, ground systems, mission networks, and cloud environments. You will own the security posture, drive IAM, SIEM, and CSPM initiatives, and ensure compliance with NIST 800-171 and ITAR/EAR requirements.

The role spans on-site, hybrid, or remote work from approved U.S. locations. Responsibilities include threat modeling, incident response, vulnerability management, and securing aerospace software and interfaces.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in information security or security engineering roles
• Active TS/SCI clearance or eligibility
• Familiarity with satellite comms, embedded systems, RF or space-ground link security
• Experience securing aerospace or mission systems
• Experience with threat modeling, code review, security testing, vulnerability management
• Strong IAM knowledge; Okta or Azure AD administration
• Proficiency in AWS security (IAM, VPC, SGs, CloudTrail, GuardDuty)
• Experience with SIEM platforms for detection engineering
• Familiarity with NIST 800-171, CMMC, SOC 2, ISO 27001
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cybersecurity controls for satellite software, ground systems, comm links, and mission infrastructure
• Develop secure software practices including threat modeling, code reviews, vulnerability management, and security testing
• Monitor mission networks and satellite systems for cyber threats and coordinate containment
• Collaborate with aerospace, software, systems, and compliance teams to meet security and regulatory requirements
• Own network security architecture including firewalls, IDS/IPS tuning, segmentation, and VPNs
• Assess vulnerabilities in flight software and satellite protocols; coordinate remediation with engineering
• Administer and harden IAM systems (Okta, AWS IAM) including SSO and access reviews
• Develop and maintain security monitoring and alerting using SIEM platforms and playbooks
• Conduct security assessments of new tools, vendors, and architecture changes
• Drive cloud security posture management across AWS environments and IAM policies
• Support CMMC Level 2 and NIST SP 800-171 compliance; SSP narratives and evidence
• Develop and deliver security awareness training and phishing simulations
• Lead or support incident response activities and post-incident reporting
• Maintain and improve data loss prevention for CUI and sensitive data
• Contribute to security policy development and keep docs current
