Job summary

Epic Aircraft, based in Bend, OR, seeks an R&D Technician to provide hands-on support for research, development, engineering, testing, and prototyping. You will fabricate, modify, and assemble prototype parts using welding, machining, and a variety of tools while collaborating with engineers to translate drawings into working solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience with TIG welding and fabrication of metals and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, sketches, and measurements.
• Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, aerospace, or assembly environments is helpful.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support Engineering and R&D projects through hands-on fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and modification.
• Build prototypes and proof-of-concept components based on engineering drawings or verbal direction.
• Fabricate and modify tools, fixtures, jigs, brackets, and other items to support engineering and testing activities.
• Perform basic machining operations to produce or modify parts as needed.
• Weld components using TIG and other welding processes.
• Measure, inspect, fit, and adjust components to achieve required dimensions.
• Assist Engineers with prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and design improvements.
• Identify fabrication or assembly issues and develop practical solutions with Engineers.
• Safely operate and maintain shop equipment, tools, and machinery.
• Maintain safe, organized work area and proper care of tools and equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and engineering requirements; document work and project status.
