Job summary

Epic Aircraft in Bend, Oregon is seeking an Avionics Technician to repair, install, and troubleshoot avionics systems on high-performance aircraft. You will interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, with minimal supervision.

The role requires experience with wiring harnesses, system installations, and using CAD drawings and test equipment. A strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential for success in this hands-on, fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Avionics experience through schooling, military training, or prior work.
  • Experience fabricating, repairing, modifying, or installing aircraft wire harnesses.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft avionics systems and components.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics, flight controls, electrical systems, and major aircraft components.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, modify, upgrade, and route wire harnesses per drawings and standards.
  • Perform avionics installations, modifications, and system setup.
  • Disassemble, assemble, inspect, and adjust avionics equipment.
  • Load and configure system software; work with wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Use avionics tools and test equipment; troubleshoot system discrepancies.
  • Maintain documentation to regulatory and company standards.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a member of Epic Flight Support, the Avionics Technician will repair, modify, install, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on aircraft avionics systems with accuracy and minimal supervision. The technician will interpret and work from maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, engineering drawings, engineering orders, and other technical documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, modify, upgrade, and route wire harnesses according to engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable standards
  • Perform avionics installations, modifications, and system setup
  • Disassemble, assemble, inspect, and adjust electronic and avionics equipment
  • Perform system-specific software loading and configuration
  • Properly use avionics-specific hand tools, test equipment, and related tooling
  • Troubleshoot avionics systems and identify potential causes of system discrepancies
  • Perform continuity checks, operational checks, and other required testing
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Take immediate corrective action when unsafe conditions are identified
  • Communicate effectively with other technicians, supervisors, engineering, and other departments as needed
  • Assist other members of the team with maintenance and shop-related tasks as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Requirements
  • Avionics experience through formal schooling, military training, or previous work experience
  • Experience fabricating, repairing, modifying, or installing aircraft wire harnesses
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft avionics systems and components
  • Basic understanding of other aircraft systems, such as hydraulics, flight controls, electrical systems, and major aircraft components
  • Basic knowledge and proper use of avionics tooling and test equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot basic electrical or avionics problems
  • Proficient in the safe and proper use of hand tools
  • Comfortable working from CAD drawings, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical documentation
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software and electronic systems
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
  • A can-do, teachable attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and assist team members with a variety of tasks
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
  • Employment with Epic Flight Support is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as well as participating in subsequent random drug and alcohol testing
Helpful but not required
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate
  • Previous experience working in an aircraft maintenance, MRO, FBO, or avionics shop environment
  • Experience with turbine-powered aircraft or high-performance aircraft
  • Experience with avionics upgrades, modifications, or retrofit installations
  • Experience building complex wire harnesses from engineering drawings or aircraft-specific documentation
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a full work shift
  • Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate hand and power tools and perform detailed mechanical tasks
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, noise, dust, and around aircraft, machinery, and chemicals commonly found in a maintenance facility
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and respirators when required
  • Ability to distinguish colors and identify small components, labels, and markings as needed for maintenance tasks
COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE

Monday – Friday
7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Starting Pay: $27.00-35.00/hour
