Job summary

Leidos Defense Sector seeks a Program Quality Engineer to lead quality activities across electromechanical programs, supporting FAI, supplier part approvals, continuous improvement, and defect reduction. The role involves interacting with manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to ensure product conformance and quality, with responsibility for quality plans, metrics, and audits.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of hands-on quality engineering in manufacturing, and strong knowledge of AS9100/ISO

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline with 4 years of experience; or master's with 2 years.
• 4+ years hands-on quality engineering in a manufacturing/product environment; 8+ years acceptable in lieu of a degree.
• Working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001.
• Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T.
• Ability to review quality inputs to aviation program manuals, forms, and records.
• Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL area.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the quality engineering point of contact for assigned programs and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain program quality plans and inspection plans.
• Review contract quality requirements and identify processes, tooling, and documentation needed to comply.
• Execute and disposition First Article Inspections (FAI/AS9102) and supplier part approvals.
• Develop and maintain quality metrics to monitor the Quality Control system.
