Qualifications

  • Must have 3+ years of aerospace quality inspection experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
  • Understanding of dimensional tolerances and manufacturing inspection practices.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions, technical manuals, and customer requirements.

Position Summary

A precision aerospace manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Aerospace Quality Inspector to perform first-piece, in-process, receiving, and final inspections of precision-manufactured components.

This position is responsible for verifying that components meet engineering drawings, customer requirements, dimensional tolerances, and applicable quality specifications throughout the manufacturing process. The Quality Inspector will perform dimensional and visual inspections, identify nonconforming material, accurately document inspection results, and work closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure quality requirements are met.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, receiving, and final inspections of precision-manufactured components.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and applicable customer requirements.
  • Determine appropriate inspection methods to verify dimensions, tolerances, surface conditions, and other specified requirements.
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections to identify defects and nonconformances.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators, fixtures, and other precision measuring equipment to verify product conformance.
  • Perform dimensional inspections of components during the manufacturing process when required.
  • Verify that internal manufacturing documentation aligns with applicable engineering and customer requirements.
  • Accurately document inspection results and complete required quality records.
  • Identify and document nonconforming components in accordance with established quality procedures.
  • Complete applicable quality assurance checklists and inspection documentation.
  • Communicate inspection findings and quality concerns with production personnel, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Work directly with machine operators and manufacturing personnel to ensure quality and dimensional requirements are achieved.
  • Support the timely inspection and processing of incoming and priority components.
  • Organize and maintain inspection equipment, gauges, fixtures, and work areas.
  • Work independently and efficiently while maintaining established quality standards.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and housekeeping procedures.
  • Perform other quality-related responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of quality inspection experience in aerospace, precision machining, or a comparable manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to meet applicable U.S. export control requirements.
  • Experience performing dimensional inspection of precision-manufactured components.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing work instructions, operation sheets, technical manuals, and customer requirements.
  • Understanding of dimensional tolerances and manufacturing inspection practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, and other members of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with manufacturing personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
  • Experience inspecting precision-machined components.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and machining capabilities.
  • Experience performing first-piece, in-process, receiving, and final inspections.
  • Familiarity with nonconformance documentation and quality control procedures.
  • Experience working directly with CNC machinists and production personnel to resolve dimensional or quality concerns.

This position operates within a precision manufacturing environment and requires regular interaction with production equipment, manufactured components, inspection tools, and shop personnel.
