Job description

The Source Inspector (SI) is responsible for performing inspection operations on in-process or completed hardware, including dimensional and visual inspections. The SI reviews all related paperwork, such as Final Inspection, Receiving Inspection, Outside Processing, and Assembly documentation. The SI verifies FAI reports for accuracy and completeness per AS9102 standards. Familiarity with hand tools, gaging techniques, blueprint interpretation, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) is essential. Source inspections are conducted at the end customer's supplier locations, requiring travel.

Job Functions:

1. Perform dimensional and visual inspections of aerospace machined components.
2. Verify supplier FAI reports according to AS9102 standards.
3. Utilize hand measurement tools effectively.
4. Understand CMM inspection processes (programming not required).
5. Apply knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
6. Conduct final and receiving inspections, including surface finish and assembly checks.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Experience in aerospace quality inspection, particularly with machined components.
2. Proficiency in FAI verification, GD&T, and blueprint reading.
3. Experience with hand tools and basic CMM understanding.
4. Familiarity with MS Outlook and Excel.
5. Knowledge of IPC, J-STD, and Mil-Spec standards (e.g., IPC-610, IPC-620).

Education and Experience:

1. At least 3 years of experience as a quality inspector, technician, or engineer.
2. Experience in aerospace manufacturing and inspection duties.
3. Knowledge of quality tools, RCCA, and problem-solving is a plus.
