Job summary

Astra Space Inc. is seeking an early-career Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support propulsion hardware on the production floor. You will drive inspection rigor, investigate nonconformances, and implement process improvements to protect mission success.

The role emphasizes reading engineering drawings with GD&T, RCCA/CAPA, MRB, and cross‑functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Design Engineering, and Supply Chain. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for ITAR compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
• 5+ years in high‑reliability manufacturing such as aerospace, defense, automotive, or medical devices.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Familiarity with inspection techniques and quality documentation practices.
• Exposure to RCCA, CAPA, or structured problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure hardware is built and inspected to engineering and industry requirements.
• Support in-process and final inspections for propulsion and structural hardware and systems.
• Interpret drawings and specifications including GD&T to verify compliance.
• Support MRB activities and containment actions with proper documentation.
• Develop inspection criteria, plans, and acceptance documentation.
