Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Quality Engineer to serve as the main interface for quality across projects in a Trinity, AL manufacturing setting. The role focuses on evaluating designs and manufacturing documentation to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry quality standards.

The engineer will drive CAPA/RCCA activities, perform root-cause analyses, and support both internal and supplier quality functions on the shop floor and in offices.

Qualifications

• 35 years of experience in aerospace design, manufacturing, or quality roles.
• Experience with quality inspection and nonconforming product management.
• Strong root-cause analysis and CAPA/RCCA experience.
• Experience leading CAPA/RCCA activities and supplier quality.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 & AS9100 quality systems and audits.
• AS9102 first article inspection experience preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T per ANSI Y14.5/Y14.41.
• Experience with production metrics analysis to drive improvements.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio.

Responsibilities

• Interface with internal value streams and external customers to represent quality.
• Evaluate designs and documentation for compliance with quality requirements.
• Ensure manufacturing processes meet quality standards with increasing volumes.
• Analyze nonconformities and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Approve NC documentation and classify nonconforming conditions.
• Lead RCCA and CAPA activities to resolve systemic issues.
• Define non-conformance and inspection criteria from drawings and specs.
• Clarify product definition for in-process and incoming inspection.
• Prepare production metrics and analyze data to identify trends and throughput gains.
• Review engineering docs for alignment with customer quality requirements.
• Apply risk management and safety tools to prevent incidents in aerospace operations.
• Incorporate human factors to minimize mistakes and support lean improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement quality requirements on the shop floor.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed for training and supplier audits.
