Job summary

Chromalloy is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure aerospace products, processes, and suppliers meet customer and regulatory standards. You will partner with quality, engineering, operations and supply chain to drive improvements and resolve issues, ensuring safe, reliable components for global aviation.

The role supports 2nd shift, on-site in Phoenix, with opportunities to lead investigations, develop inspection plans, and participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Mechanical, Aerospace or Metallurgical Engineering or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, aviation or highly regulated environment.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and quality tools; root cause analysis.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and data interpretation skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication across multiple functions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, regulatory requirements and internal quality procedures.
• Lead investigations of nonconforming material, customer escapes and quality system issues using structured problem-solving (8D, RCCA, Five Why).
• Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, quality procedures and work instructions.
• Perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) per AS9102.
• Analyze quality data and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Support audits and ensure timely closure of findings.
• Monitor key quality metrics (scrap, rework, yield, complaints, process performance).
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain to resolve issues.
• Participate in process validation, production readiness reviews and CI initiatives.
• Interpret drawings/specifications to establish/verify quality standards.
• Develop inspection methods, testing approaches and quality controls.
• Prepare reports and present findings on quality performance.
